- a stable fit even during continuous movement,
- the material of the frame and lenses must be resistant to sweat,
- perfect spatial perception during movement,
- the colour of the lenses must be adapted to specific lighting conditions,
- be resistant to specific physical influences.
The choice is always preceded by an in-depth discussion, during which our task is to get an idea of our client’s experience and expectations in relation to their sporting situation. This is followed by the selection of the model that best suits your personal preferences. Particular care must then be taken to ensure that needs and technical possibilities are in harmony. To ensure a successful choice, we offer models with components that can be adjusted separately to suit the wearer’s anatomy, or sports glasses with special dioptric lenses.
Safety and benefit
Perfect vision reduces the risk of accidents, reduces eye fatigue, improves concentration and increases performance while playing sports. Polycarbonate (unbreakable) lenses in the right frame can protect the eye during sports, unlike contact lenses which offer no protection against injury.
Protecting the eye during sport is of paramount importance, with 41% of accidents requiring hospitalisation. Sport is the most common cause of serious eye injuries. Polycarbonate lenses (either in clear or dioptric sunglasses) are lightweight and have high impact resistance. A wide range of lens types are available in polarised, bifocal, progressive and light-darkening designs.

For any sport
Whether amateur or professional, there is no sport that does not require excellent vision. What is known as a safe vision corrector in everyday life – glasses, contact lenses – is far from fully able to withstand the extreme demands of sport. That’s what dioptric sports glasses are for.
Water sports, ball games, mountain climbing are all popular sports that put a lot of strain on our eyes and vision. But what do we do if we are short-sighted or have trouble seeing distant objects?
Should we give up sport?
The answer is no, wear dioptric sports glasses! Red card for street glasses. We need to know that glasses for street wear are not suitable for sports, they do not protect against sports injuries at all. Think about it: if you hit a squash ball right, it has as much energy as a .22-calibre pistol bullet. But you could also mention a baseball, or say a badminton ball. The latter can fly through the air at up to 80 kilometres an hour. Water sports and snow activities also require special glasses, as you have to deal with the elements while playing. Sports glasses for sports. The dioptric sports glasses are characterised by a much more stable frame, with a flexible stem that perfectly follows the shape of the head and fits it, so that it does not move or fall off during sports. These glasses are typically very light, weighing only a few grams.
For winter sports enthusiasts, cross-country skiers, downhill skiers and snowboarders, there is also a huge choice of sports and dioptric glasses. And perhaps this is where fashion really comes into its own, with a myriad of lens colours and high-tech eyewear styles. Good sports glasses are made of polycarbonate, a fact that sports enthusiasts should keep in mind. The fact that polycarbonate is used in police shields and jet cockpits speaks volumes about the material’s durability. Polycarbonate glasses are also available in vision correcting versions.
Can also be worn as sunglasses
With the special tinting, most of the single-focus and progressive plastic lenses can be made into sunglasses. We have a wide choice of lenses to suit our individual needs: you can choose the lens of virtually any colour and shade you want, to suit your face shape and appearance.
Different lens tints are recommended depending on the sport, to enhance contrast and visual comfort. Sunglasses are important as they reduce glare and protect against harmful UV rays. When choosing colours and coatings, a thorough visual task analysis is carried out to determine the surrounding lighting colours and conditions.
Different colours are recommended for different activities:
for skiing, brown, red/orange, neutral grey; for golf, green, yellow, silver; for football, amber-yellow; and for water sports, polarised brown lenses. The colour of the lens of the sunglasses determines not only the visual appearance but also how well different colours can be distinguished and how sharp the vision will be when wearing the glasses. Certain coloured lenses increase contrast and therefore provide sharper vision, but they also affect the ability to distinguish colours, which can be dangerous, for example if you are driving a vehicle and cannot distinguish the colours of the traffic lights correctly. It is therefore important which lens colour you choose for which activity.
