What might be behind it?
Double vision can be caused by a problem such as paralysis of the eye muscle, but it can also be caused by an injury to the head. It can also be caused by a thyroid condition, a circulatory problem, a carbohydrate metabolism disorder or high blood pressure, as well as multiple sclerosis or a side effect of a drug.
What can we do about it?
The degree of double vision, the location of the eye muscle that is not working properly, and changes in all of these can be perfectly diagnosed and monitored.
It is also worth visiting an internist, neurologist or ophthalmologist for tests to help find the cause. In all cases of double vision, it is therefore important to identify and treat the underlying condition, which can help to eliminate this unpleasant symptom. If it does not, and if the problem persists, surgery on the eye muscles may help.
