What is a polatest?

A polatest is a special test that can detect hidden strabismus. As this problem can indeed remain hidden for a long time – as there are no visible signs – it is worth going for a test if you have any of the complaints listed below. A clear diagnosis can be made thanks to a polatest test.

What are the symptoms of hidden strabismus?

In many cases, there are no visual problems or obvious signs of eye cooperation problems. However, there are plenty of symptoms to look out for. These include migraine headaches, concentration problems, frontal sensitivity and difficulties with reading or learning, such as dyslexia. But we can also be alerted to hidden squinting if our new glasses are hard to get used to, even though they give us sharp vision. The eye tires easily as it constantly tries to correct this visual defect, often resulting in blurred vision or severe tearing.

How is the polatest test done?

The polatest tests the cooperation of the eye muscles and the balance of the eye muscles. It also helps to evaluate the joint movement of the eyes, so that hidden strabismus can be easily detected. The test is completely painless, but it is time-consuming. The first step is always to start with an eye test. After determining the optimum spectacle correction, if necessary, a special polarized ballast is used to help identify the problem. The person being tested looks through this filter at different polarized images with both eyes at the same time from a distance of 5 meters.

What is the solution to a polatest test?

The test can determine the corrective values needed to make the right spectacles. This is known as prism glasses, which improve the function of the muscles, thus eliminating the complaints described above. They look no different from normal glasses and can be stylish and fashionable, so they do not cause any aesthetic discomfort. In addition, prismatic correction can also be used when vision correction is needed, as dioptric lenses can be fitted with this feature.

When is it recommended to have a polatest?

Whichever of the unpleasant symptoms listed above you are experiencing, it is always worth having this test done. In children, it is particularly important to look out for the signs, as learning problems can occur if the problem is not detected. As the test is lengthy and requires cooperation from the person being tested, it is recommended only for people over the age of 7. For adults, it is still worthwhile to have an eye test even if you have not had one, but if you have any of the above symptoms, then by all means.
